Hi my father was shore based ( K19 ?)for a while with a Sea Fury squadron at one of the American bases and remembers watching the Sabres coming back from a mission whilst he was waiting to take off on one himself, he says at least two crashed close to the field due to running out of fuel and was told that was quite normal as they were always close to their limit of endurance
