Completely agree with your comments turas. Up until Ryanair and Aer Arann cancelled their services, I used fly to Cork via Dublin. Nowadays, even though I prefer traveling by train to Cork, its actually quicker using the bus from Dublin airport to Cork.
The decision by Dublin bus to withdraw their 748 direct service to Heuston station via the port tunnel to a more indirect route on their 747 service makes travel from Dublin airport to Cork by rail a longer journey time than by coach on a superb new motorway.
