Never thought of it that way around. I have to disagree. Basic flying skills (ie the rudder is not a footrest) are best learned on a glider. I always remember my first powered instructional flight. My instructor (also a gliding instructor) knew my background. When he asked me to try a turn I put a bootful of rudder in and reefed it around at about 60 degrees.
