The vague promise of a transatlantic service from Cork has been doing the rounds since the early 1990's. it's always at least two years away and needless to say it never materialises.
I know that talks have taken place with a number of airlines but we're never told at what level these talks are taking place. There's a big difference between a friendly chat with an Irish representative and live negotiations with the
real decision makers in Dallas or Atlanta.
Ironically Cork's connectivity to Heathrow and Schiphol is probably militating against a direct link. Furthermore while many Cork people lament the lack of a direct service, how many would support it if there's a cheaper fare or a more convenient time available from Shannon and Dublin?
