What is all this stuff about "upgrades in 6 years"?
have a look at the fleet numbers and the order book. There are currently 500+ FOs in the group. At 50 commands per year (massive expansion!!) that would equate to 10 years to a command.
The 4-6 years to a command that many dream about was an industrial anomaly. Even 50 new command per year would be very optimistic. Have some realistic expectations before you join the company, please. Some amongst the current batch of FOs who joined in 2010-12 still belive that they will get commands within the the next few years (ie: 4-6 years of them joining). The reality is that pilots who have starts in mid 2008- early 2009 still have 300++ other FOs in front of them for command upgrades.
This false belief is causing massive headaches for everyone as they bleat "where is my command??".
The industry has gone back to 'traditional' periods of indenture until a Captaincy comes along. New join FOs in any company can expect to do 10-15 years to command.
