Much of the airship framework was built from wood unlike most Zeppelins which were mainly of metal construction, hence the large metal cage characteristic of most airship wrecks is absent.
All 16 of the airships' crew died in the crash at Cuffley, a small village on the outskirts of London, where in spite of objections by some civilians they were given a full military funeral, the coffins being carried by the officers and men of the Royal Flying Corps.
