An RN pilot serving as an instructor with VF-121 flew an F-4 to Da Nang on a delivery flight, then, I'm told, unfurled a Union flag as he taxied to the pan. And an RAF helicopter pilot sent to Da Nang from Hong Kong as an observer flew a combat sortie or two with a US Army Huey squadron. I'm sure there's more of this sort of thing.
