ATSB need to recover both the data recorder and FDR recorder to resolve this investigation.
It is my belief that they flew into the water before they were ready. No real ditching briefing had been given, nor was the cabin prepared. Why did the FO tell Norfolk radio to standby when he was after details if they were about to ditch?
I understand that the gear is held up under pressure and that it would droop down after the punps and pressure were lost, but certainly not extend fully and lock down. The underwater photos show the gear down and locked.
Did they get partially visual and decide to circle at low level back to the runway and flew into the water?
It would be interesting to see how much the flight crew statements changed if the FDR and cockpit recorders where located!
