I agree with TartinTon,

When you consider that the south stands was originally built to accommodate domestic airline flights (the terminal being the former Easyland building-which incorporated the former spectators building) and stands 16 and 17 were also for airline use. That equates to approximately 7 airline stands.

In effect there has always been those extra stands but for some reason private jets took precedence.

With passenger throughput declining at Cardiff and losses inevitably occuring, Abertis will have to look at subsidising the losses from other airports and no doubt Luton could become a victim?

The ratio of scheduled flights v charter flights used to be 5/95 now it's 95/5! In May of this year just over 1.7 million passengers flew on charters from all UK airports. Both Thomson and Monarch remain key players in this activity.

Luton in my mind 'hugely' under performs in this area where as back in the 70's and 80's it was one of the busiest in handling charters.

Both Monarch and Thomson should be 'enticed' to offer more services from their home base here at Luton. How on Earth did Gatwick and Manchester and Birmingham go on to handle more charter services than Luton?

Abertis really should re-consider those extra 5 stands that LLAL proposed that would be positioned to the east of the proposed multi-storey car park.
