Shobdon, just on the English side of the border, has a caravan for hire and I think, but am not sure, it allows pets. No need to make brekky, just go down to the cafe and whilst you are there you can pick up a sandwich for lunch.
Edited to add that the
Bateman Arms about a mile from the airfield is a dog-friendly hotel.
