Had similar while slinging breeze blocks in a Bolkow off Le Casquets light in Channel Islands. First I knew about was a slurry of oil down front and side windscreens while pulling up with a load. Only option was to ditch in nasty sea state or take the load to Alderney which was 2 minutes away and with no CWP alerts that's what we did. Apparently the veiw of us landing on terra firma was spectacular
IIRC, it was a bearing failure on the cooling fan that caused all the oil from the gearbox to spurt out everywhere, but the grey cells are shrinking.
