Or if I get the JAA PPL now, will I still have to renew it after 5 years (even after converting it to EASA), as it was originally a JAA license?
If you get a JAA licence now you will have to replace it with an EASA licence at some point in the next 5 years. Whether you do that at the end of its life or sooner is entirely your choice. Once you have the EASA licence, it will never need to be re-issued.
