Fair enough, my link between AeroEng and ATPL was overstated. But any engineering degree would provide skills useful for ATPLs, e.g. numeracy, reasoning, managing a heavy workload...
If you can hack it, it'd be a damn sight more useful than Media Studies etc., but Scroggs' third paragraph is spot on.
My main point was that IMHO, it's far better to have a degree than to have not.
