Ryanair issued an internal memo to say a phone call does not count as disturbed rest period.
This is absolutely true. According to a leaked memo to the crewing dept from Ryanair's chief pilot,
phoning a pilot up to 2200 hrs local doesn't constitute disturbed rest !!! This includes the evening before a 5 am report !!!
I'd be very curious to see what the regulators would think of this. As a matter of fact, I doubt it's even legal.
I *personally* sent a copy of the memo to the IAA. The reply from one of their flight ops inspectors consisted of
one line, and
I quote :-
"if a pilot does not wish to be disturbed, they should switch their phone off"
