Some great jokes flying about here ... but this is why in the UK we are having to jump through hoops for the "known supplier" protocol ...
This type of incident begins to justify the quite extraordinary barriers which are put in place and hinder the efficient provision of airside services ...
In the course of my work I visit 20+ UK regional airports ... having to fill in a 9 page document in order to get a visitors pass for airside is quite ridiculous ... and at some locations having to apply 72 hours in advance is also a barrier normal commercial operations... when considered against the background of what is being reported here ...
But hearing stories like this you begin to understand that airport security is an un-winable game ...
