In the 1988 Seoul Olympic opening there was, of course, a spectacular skydive from altitude right into the stadium, where the jumpers (two Chinooks' full) formed the Olympic rings on the way down. I seem to recall it involved about 40-50 of them.
That would have been horribly messy this time with all the wires across the stadium.
