To get a firm appreciation for wind shear, I'd suggest that you spend some time in sailplanes ... that experience will teach you better awareness of weather conditions, and you'll learn to carry just the right amount of speed as circumstances dictate.

There's no possibility of a 'go around' in a glider, so you can't flop around and hope for the best; you've simply got to know what you're doing.
