I don't have Windows 7 Pro though. Would it work with VMware do you know?
It might but unless you've got lots of ram I suspect you would be better off quarantining the XP M/C from the internet remove all the software other than the scanner stuff and your image manipulation program and you will probably find it faster than the laptop anyway.
