You are missing out on the big picture.. Forget sched service, the real freight dogs are the load masters and flight mechanics who operate as lone renegades. Load masters crafting odd freight to just make the load under specs, animals etc... The Flight mech, sticking with an aircraft, sleeping in a bed roll, watching sometimes 2 to ? flight crews hand off... Hell I got more sleep in my freighter than I did at home for several years. The only thing abnormal about a freight pilot's job is the night flying, you may as well do a story about shift work disorder... Dig deeper into ACMI operators like ATLAS, Centurion, Southern Air, etcetera... My favorite memory is waking up in my sleeping bag, throwing breakfast into the oven and eating it in my boxer shorts and t-shirt in a seat behind the captain at top of descent watching the sun rise from 36000 feet heading for Buenos Aires, nothing like it!
