The CP before SJ was always a decent sort of chap but those were in the days of Jackie Stewart's J31 when there were men and then there were male pilots.
Crew resource management, or its board room equivalent, was something made much of by RL in the early days. A visit to each base once a month was the intention in order to keep crews in touch with head office and the head man in particular. Sounds as though that all went down the Swanee as the money came rolling in. Doesn't sound though as if it's any worse than any other small airline. It's just that the world downturn has continued for so long that everyone is taking a kicking for much longer than would normally be the case in the previous cyclical pilot supply market. One idea which worked wonderfully well years ago with another company in a land far away was when the pilots refused to fly anything other than full procedural for a week. The resultant increase in fuel costs and delays soon occasioned a round table conference. It took guts and glue but it paid off.
