Wagners have tried and tried to get Toowoomba airport sorted 4 years ago but at the end of the day the airport is built in with housing, Skytrans just get in and out..... end of story......
About 2 to 3 years ago, Wagners led the way with the city bypass for the transporters and commuters, a "pilot hole" has been established but can not get the Government support/funding to go and open it up..
Now...good on the Wagners in opening/constructing their own strip on their own land....They will not get a 737 in there "due to the expense" and the black soil out there (Gov. will never invest on the wagners land), however they can get the GA guys/girls flying in there when TWB is fogged in etc. Forget about the RPT side of things as Oakey and Amberley are just tolerating a local RPT organisation in Toowoomba.
A slight drift....Toowoomba regional council are still stuck in the 1980's. I know from first hand experience...
