That is so true. Warwick District Council have always had a down on Coventry having an airport. They have put every possible obstacle in the way. Methinks this goes way back to the days when Coventry was taken out of Warwickshire, with the subsequent loss of revenue to the county.
Comments were made at the time of the inquiry along the lines of "if Stoneleigh doesn't like the airport, they will love it when they find out what plan B is".
Insert gravel pit, offenders / asylum cells / dirty industry of your choice.
The problem would still be that WDC have the final call. If only they'd called it "Coventry Shakespeare" or "Coventry - Warwick - South Midlands" then maybe we'd still have a few flights - although the name would have only bought some political favours, it doesn't put bums on seats, as our friends at MME know too well!
