@Rat catcher, do you as the Captain normally go down and personally confirm that each bag is matched to the owner, or you confirm that the load sheet numbers tally with the numbers onboard, if there is a LMC and a pax is offloaded, you rely on your ground staff and Kilo 1, to do the necessary and remove the bags of the pax who is now not travelling, and they provide you with the necessary evidence that either the pax had checked in baggage or not, unfortunately in this part of the world where integrity is in short supply, yes i will be the first to acknowledge it, more often than not the ground staff will be quick to disclaim that the offloaded pax had no checked in baggage and even provide you with the required documentation, since they have learnt to beat the system all this in a bid to get an on time departure.
That is now another issue altogether, my bane is the fact that people are so quick to chastise the pilots without learning the facts, whilst all they did was follow the laid down procedures for LMC.
The Airline is in the process of changing its check in system to Altea because of such issues.
