Actually the xenophobic views are coming to be very valid in Singapore currently. Many Singaporeans feel deprived and unloved when we did our national service and our university places and top jobs are given to foreigners easily ahead of us when we are equally qualified. I've been to other forums and similar gripes are everywhere. It's not really fair to say that someone doesn't deserve the job for airing this view, as I see the same argument made in medical forums and other job openings with this comment usually made by a foreigner.
I think it's best to let the disgruntled Singaporean blow off steam and then help him in anyway you can. Calling him unsuitable and of low quality just because he feels disadvantaged in his own homeland surely isn't going to bring out the best in the natives.
