I'd say you should carry on with "Plan B".
Times are really bad nowadays, but I won't go to the extreme of "forget about SQ". If you're really keen on flying, perhaps KIV for now and go do something else to make some $$ or occupy your time. Or you may want to try Cathay's cadet pilot program. If you got spare cash you can always pursue your flying with STAA / OAA / CTC. If you can afford it, my view is that this is the best time to go and do your flight training, cuz by the time you finish your training economy "should have" picked up by then.
