Fire at Calabar
The fire was caused by a fuel tanker was driving down the hill at Marina Beach Road, having just uplifted fuel. The driver lost control on a corner for whatever reason, rolled over and the fuel caught fire but stopped just short of the Bristow facility at the base. It's believed that 1 person died and 11 were injured in the fire and 20 cars were destroyed. There were no Bristow staff injured and air operations continue from Calabar airport as usual.
