Aviation is simple and the forefathers got it right before the bean counters took over.
Fly the right aircraft to places people want to go, with a product they are willing to pay at the right times for at a fair price.
Qantas fly the wrong aircraft to the wrong locations at the wrong times and charge a premium for it.
Imagine if they used the dugong from all capitals to a hub and then 777s/787s in the spoke for the long haul.
Keep the gong for sub eight hour sectors and the wide body boeing twins for long haul.
Africa through a Perth hub. Asia through Darwin, South America through Melbourne, North America through Sydney and Europe through Singapore. Use strategic partners on these routes and profit/code share.
Feed it all through a strong domestic network.
Just imagine.
