Intersection ops now seem to be de-rigeuer if capable then. Today for the first time I've seen it happen G-OZBO departed from the intersection for LEPA (ZB 872)
One day this practice will end in tears as a safety margin is being removed in the interests of increasing runway usage. Either an aircraft will be committed to take off when it could have stopped or an aircraft will abort a take-off and go off the end of the runway due to the lack of that extra 1000ft. I then will be digging out this post and saying I told you so.
