Yes. The request could have been for sight-seeing or for the descent/approach to Halim, 32nm north. The two possibilities that roughly fit with the available photographs & videos are the flight paths into the west-southwest canyon or the north-northeast canyon.
Comparing the crash site photo taken the day after accident which is around 9.am and we can see bright sunlight on the left side, so the helicopter rescuers which took this photo could be flying toward south/southwest direction and also probably has similar path that the ill fated Sukhoi before crashed. I try to use Sergeydolya lat/long closed possible to match what look like when we see on the Google Earth . Here is my crash site : 6°42'27.02"S 106°44'34.73"E . Atang Sanjaya field is actually North East of Mt Salak so its possible the flight path is going toward South , when pilot contacted ATC for descend request.
