You need a benefactor with more passion than sense - or Easyjet move in, even then, they wont pay you anything for five years.
Well do we at least now have the scenario that could make this possible.
Namely - baby finally aborted, creating some gaps in the market at BHX and EMA.
Some of these will be filled by existing rivals + BE have already pounced on the mixed biz & leisure routes (Scotland, CDG, AMS) that they feel they can turn a profit on.
So, do U2 come back looking for a piece of the Midlands pie (as previously hinted), and if so, they will presumably be talking to all 3 airports (suggestions they could come back to EMA elsewhere).
After all, what they have done at SEN isn't exactly the most ambitious set of new routes, but it is clearly good enough for SEN.
I would still expect that U2 would use CVT more as a bargaining chip than as their preferred choice, but if the price is right, are we at least in with an outside hope?
