I still fail to comprehend this whole American Hollywood style image of fighters being scrambled and shooting down planes if the SAM sites miss them.
I mean honestly, what are you going to achieve either way ?
Given the limited number of police helicopters and their max speed, the Typhoons will be able to get eyes on a target quickly.
Apparently they will conduct training flights, it will be fascinating to see how they integrate them into low level traffic over London.
Won't be a proper training unless a similar number of helicopters are airborn over Greater London during the training mission as is planned for Olympics, ie media,news, broadcast, police and commercial traffic.
Maybe 10 to 20 helis?
