I dont think so that the hiring is freezed!!!

You can find lot of informnation about Cathay in the Google all say that the Cathay need 300 S/O in 2012 and that how many airplanes they plan to buy.

New flights openings...increasing flights....etc...

But the waiting is really a killer...:-)
