Financing Training

Hi Everyone,

Ive come to the point where im training for my PPL at an almost steady pace and beginning to wonder how i am going to finance my training after my PPL.

My ultimate ambition is to fly for an airlines although if the oppurtunity came along sometime i would also love to start a charter company or something along the lines of charter work.

I am considering applying for a loan from HSBC in 2 years time when i leave college and i understand that they will offer 25,000 pounds unsecured. This would, according to my calculations, along with about 10,000 pounds of my own money get me from 45 hour min PPL to frozen ATPL although the training would not be in this country.

I was wondering what the commercial pilots of the Wannabes Forum have for advice.

Which countries offer the best training apart from the UK as this would lower my costs.

I am planning on aplying to join an airline when i am 18 as a passenger service agent or something along those lines so i can get experience of aviation and working in airports. This will also allow me to save money to pay for some training although i will not be able to pay for all of my training without the help of the Pro Studies Loan.

I had a quote from a FTO in portugl for 30,000 pounds to get from 45hr PPL to frozen ATPL. Does this sound about right.

Any advice or stories about how some of you guys got through your training would be greatly appreciated

Thanks guys and have a great Xmas and a happy new year
