It's a sad state of affairs when in the UK there are hundreds of highly experienced Jet Captns & F/Os out of work, while the industry continues to hire 'cadets'.
I hope things work out for you 'Fade to Grey'. I was in a similar position to you 18 months ago. One thing is for sure, the 787 will be a highly desirable rating to have in the coming years.
