Why did the plan require the bombs to straddle the runway at almost 70 degrees? Surely a more acute angle to the runway direction would have resulted in a greater hit rate?
One for the mud movers I know but
AFAIK if you go for too acute an angle, e.g. in extremis trying to align the stick with the runway, if you hit you'll hit with every bomb
but if you miss, and put the stick to one side, then you've miss with every bomb
.
It's a compromise.
(I'm sure someone will be along with a better explanation and a diagram soon)
