I think if Richard Branson were to say 'hire this person', I would say to him that they need to go through the SAME process as everyone else applying for the job, to determine if they are suitable and actually meet the specific criteria they lay out for potential employees. That is my opinion.

Not saying the recruitment process is 100% fail safe, as I have met airline staff who do not belong in that job and have NO people skills.
But in saying that, for equality and fairness, i think the process they go by for everyone seems to work, and it suits the company.
Reference checks for most jobs these days are standard, run of the mill, mini interviews, some going for 20 mins half hour.
They have a list and match questions to your answers and obviously have their ways. That is what I have found in my experience.

I have been told I have the job with said company, pending medical early next week.
