Look...who knows what they are on about. If my chance hinges on some manager or ex managers communication skills, then perhaps it's a disadvantage to ask a 3rd party. I think it's unfair to have to speak to someone for about 15 minutes, like one of my managers told me and expect them to take that time. Some managers are a little too busy. Whilst I appreciate the effort and believe they said everything possible to get me that job, sometimes the process is a little unfair. unfair to them and especially unfair to me.
As for knowing someone, well I have tried before going like you said 'Cold turkey' and it hasn't worked. By the way, the manager with the CC wife actually volunteered that information without me knowing about it. After he had the interview, he told me so I thought it couldn't hurt.
Hey Sydneysider, what if Richard Branson would tell his team to hire someone...do you think they would hire you? I think the right connections can get you that job.
What is your situation? Have you made it or are you waiting?
Thanks for your input.
