Did you fly Trident 1C, G-ARPO ?

On the 31st July 2011, Trident 1C, G-ARPO, was moved from Teeside airport - where she had been in use by fire services as a training aircraft – to the North East Aircraft Museum at Sunderland airport, by a group of volunteers called “Save the Trident”.

This group is currently undertaking her restoration, with the intention that she will eventually be displayed, as a ground exhibit, at the Museum.

  • Details of the group can be found here.
  • Photos of the work being undertaken can be seen here and here.

As part of the restoration, the group would like to compile a life history of G-ARPO, to accompany the aircraft when it is exhibited.

To this end, the leader of this restoration group, Mr Tony Jarrett, would be most grateful if any pilot who flew the Trident, and who would like to help in compiling this history of G-ARPO, might be kind enough to delve into their old logbooks and provide him with details about any sectors they flew on G-ARPO.

In particular, he would like:
  • Dates
  • Destination
  • Times
  • Crew Names

He is contactable at: [email protected]

Perhaps those fortunate enough to have flown Hawker Siddley’s Ground Gripper might wish to help in this worthy cause?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer
