1) I f you have any McAfee software on the machine, uninstall it
2) Try the "fixit" on this page
You receive an error message when you install an Office program or open an Office program or document
3) If that fails try this

start> type in REGEDIT>
browse to following locations:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SketchObj.SketchInk
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SketchObj.SketchInk.1
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HWXInk.E-Ink
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HWXInk.E-Ink.1
Right click on each folder and give full control permissions and then try installing office."
