I largely agree with the two above posts, but I would also add that aviation doesn't offer as many, as secure or as well paid opportunities as other industries. When downturns come, aviation cops it first, hardest and longest. it quickly grew tedious for me, but I am glad I did it for a while.
I would say go for it if you are keen, but don't pigeon hole yourself. keep studying and maintain skills outside aviation, so that if the worst happens you have options and can still support yourself/family. At least you'll be able to look back and say you did it.
