Add to the fact that it would be virtually impossible for a fast jet to shoot down GA aircraft anyway, due to the fact that they are too small & slow! They used to struggle to "Kill" a Hercules, they simply dropped the flaps & flew a low, slow tight turns & generally they managed to get away!
