Choice of flight school vs. Airline Career

Hi there all,

My question is regarding the choice of flight school vs. your future career prospects in South Africa.

I know that schools affiliated with airlines do in any way not assist their graduates in getting jobs with airlines (even after their graduates have completed their 1500hrs). Schools most often use this as an gimmick to hook potential students into their programs.

Do the airlines (as this is where I want to end up one day) look at where your flight training was conducted before they decide to hire you? In the end, it doesn't matter where you got your licenses, it’s the flight time that counts, right?

I am looking at starting my long journey at either Lanseria Flight Centre or FTS in Midrand. These schools look MUCH better price wise compared to the integrated schools such as 43rd and Progress and you get more in my opinion (I won't have to move). Obviously there are still a lot of factors to take into account.

Is there a website/contact that I could speak to to find out if there is preferential treatment when it comes to flight school choices? Or do the airlines rather focus on the experience you have built up during your 1500 hours?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
