In that Press Release:
Mr Heappey said: “We will make better use of the space. At the moment there is a colossal check-in hall and you rarely see all the desks in use. “That is absolutely a sign of the times where airlines encourage people to check-in at home online.
True, they had the misfortune to design and build the terminal in the 1990s, before the impact of the Net was clear.
“So there will be less check-in desks, better baggage drop facilities and security ar`eas where it can be a real bottleneck at peak times. “There will also be more places for people to sit and relax.”
Tricky. There is room to move things around in the big hall but upstairs is firmly limited by the walls of the building. Not to mention all those shops! The only REAL answer to speed up the process is more people working to serve the pax. But we all know that hiring more people is 'a very bad thing'.
