This document (is it new?) suggests the creation of two new aircraft parking areas for Ocean Sky, one on the site of the former control tower, the other on the site of the former Luton Flying Club and Helicopter Services hangars. In other words the equivalent of 2/3 'full size' commercial aircraft stands.
It will also, presumably, free up the South Apron (stand nos 20-22) for airline operations in 2013/14. Furthermore, it will allow better use of the area between the South and East Aprons - terminal extension, pier or walkway to South Apron, improved vehicular access, etc.
Ocean Sky are clearly doing well at Luton.
Let's hope this proceeds so that the airport can accommodate more airline activities.
