Al Mathie

Dear Al - such a great man. The quintissential AFME Hunter Pilot. 8 Sqn, but we'll forgive him for that. What a bunch - Parts, Dai Heather-Hayes, Stef Karwowski, Johnnie Pym, Keith Holland, but Al was the gentleman among us all.

Dik - ah, the LandRover... I think it belonged to OC Ops, the dreary Hewitt. Math needed to borrow it to rescue some of the boys from downdown swinging Manama-on-Sea at the dead of night. Sadly a lamp post leaped out and bit him on the way home. I forget the exact outcome, but I recall he relieved me for a week's SDO when I had finished my own 7-day stint for the moonlight water-skiing episode. Swiftly follwed in turn by H-H after the flour bomb incident...etc...etc

And then there was Brawdy.

Always the gentleman, always a good friend. Goodbye Al, and thanks.
