that the engine can't start with mixture set to lean
It isn't going to run for long enough to fly somewhere
but it can definitely ignite and turn for a few revs, enough to chop somebody's head off, just on residual fuel left in the fuel system from a previous shutdown which was not done by mixture cutoff.
