To pr00ne and glojo: thanks! My recognition skills seem to have faded over the years.
For those interested: a nice summary by
Colin H. Kahl is available on line, at the moment, in explaining why an American, or coalition, pre-emptive strike/raid/war is a lousy idea. He is responding to a chickenhawk "analyst" at Foreign Affairs magazine (Matthew Kroenig) who raised a stir with his article "Time to Attack Iran."
Article Summary and Author Biography
"Opponents of military action against Iran assume a U.S. strike would be far more dangerous than simply letting Tehran build a bomb. Not so, argues this former Pentagon defense planner.
With a carefully designed attack, Washington could mitigate the costs and spare the region and the world from an unacceptable threat."
Seems to be a Rummy style "strategist" who bases his plans on best case thinking rather than worst case analysis.
I am glad he is FORMER as a defense planner. Of the two arguments, I find Kahl's better reasoned.
