Anyone who has taken a taxi or eaten out in Lisbon knows how far prices are from those in Scandinavia. It is still a lot cheaper to have a night out in Lisbon than in the London, Madrid, Milan or anywhere else in Western Europe I can remember, to be honest.
I can see people going for the sun and lifestyle in a small base like Lisbon, rather than a better pay, but hassle and rain in LGW. Too bad the suits had to take advantage of it with these appalling terms and conditions.
Same happened in Madrid when the base opened... then eventually, everyone's lack of interest in transferring changed things. But a higher number of pilots was needed in MAD. Lisbon being a small base, I doubt they will ever need to improve these t&c to get enough people for the base to run smoothly.
