The tax rates quoted by CasperFan and busav8r, are marginal rather than average rates. There is a deductable amount which increases with income (effectively a kind of tax credit). For example for incomes > €64,623 up to €150,000, the rate is 42,88% and the deductable is €7,246.40.
See
Portugal Tax Rates for more details, although the precise way in which any given gross salary has its tax determined is not exactly clear.
As for Scandanavian prices: when it comes to restaurants, bars, taxis and labour-intensive services generally, Portugal is not in the same league: it's a low income country with all that that implies for some serivces costs.
