Bottom line is that AAX felt they had to beat Scoot to Sydney, and the only aircraft they have that can make the flight was busy flying to Europe, so they closed down shop there and will be headed down to Sydney. Since Tony has already bought off MAS who had blocked their entry into the market, he got what he wanted and will be flying into Sydney about 6-8 weeks ahead of Scoot. Now we just have to wait for MAS to announce that due to competition, they can no longer make money with two flights a day to KUL-SYD, so they will reduce it to one, thus reducing competition even more, which is exactly what Tony planned all along. Sad, really sad.
